IR remote control for remoteless Marantz tuner

If you have Marantz ST-17 tuner you know it doesn't have an IR receiver. You should also know it can be remotely controlled, but only by wire coming from Marantz amplifier. I have them both, tuner and amplifier, but I would also like to pair this tuner with another ampifier which is not Marantz. In that case separate IR receiver is needed.

Looking at the schematics of the Marantz PM-17 amplifier I found that output signal for remote control of the tuner is coming directly from IR receiver chip, so no intervention from amplifier microcontroller is needed. This cognition simplifies making of the stand-alone IR receiver a lot, because you don't need anything but Ir receiver chip and a NPN tranzistor to drive tuner remote control input.

Here's the schematic caption from Marantz PM-17 amplifier IR receiver section:

My solution is very simple. All it needs is a TSOP1738 IR receiver chip and a small singnal NPN transistor to invert the phase of the output signal from TSOP1738. I did some measurements on the actual control signal from the amplifier and it turned out that input impedance of the tuner is 150 kOhm and voltage of positive impulse +5.5 V. So, to keep output voltage from my IR receiver as close as possible to 5V I put 1k resistor at collector.
Realization of receiver is also very simple. Important thing is to put TSOP1738 outside of the enclosure, to achive much better response to remote controller.
